Hi Aunty Yochana,
I would like to know how do you store your mooncake. Do you put them in a container or just leave them in the cooling rack for 2-3 days? Please advise. Thanks!

Hi Sarah,

I just put it into the tupperware for about a week then if there's balance, I'll keep in the chiller.

Aunty,
i baked mooncakes on monday but the skin was very hard, just like biscuit. So sad lah.. :( i used the golden syrup i bought from supermarket..maybe it caused the skin to be hard?
Also, i found it very difficult to handle the dough. It was quite crumbly, so i couldn't wrap it around the paste nicely. When there's a hole somewhere, i just pinch some dough to cover it...haha.. Luckily, my snow skin mooncakes were ok. I distributed them to my friends and they like it. I told them about your wonderful blog. Thanks very much for sharing the recipes, aunty! Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to you and your family! Warm regards from melbourne :)

aunty, I have made the mixed nuts mooncake in your recipe list. it turns out good.. But the thing is.. When it is ready to eat, i cut it using a steel knife but it is very difficult to cut it sharply because there are alot of nuts inside blocking. Can it be because I didnt chop the nuts small enough?

Aunty Yochana said...

hi ling.

you have to chop it into small pieces.

Hi Jing yi,

I think the fault lies in your Golden syrup. You have to use Mooncake golden syrup. I have put the recipe for golden syrup for mooncakes. Next year, don't buy the store bought golden syrup for making cakes. Ask for Mooncake golden syrup otherwise, make it yourself. It's so easy...

Ahhhh Aunty Lucy I still remember these mooncakes fondly the last time you gave me some when we went to your house for gathering,it was so delicious!
I love nuts and this remains one of my favourite baked mooncakes though I dislike eating baked mooncakes usually...bing pi is my type!
Looking at it now brings back good memories... =)

alas Aunty,
wish i had thought earlier about asking you for this receipe or perhaps make a request order (if possible) from you coz my Mom was commenting the ingredients of the 5flavoured nuts moonies we bought for her were not fresh.

somehow, i kinda 'spoilt' my Mom since i started to pick up the baking tips here and there. she enjoys the fresh bakes.

could you email to me at 'questbe@yahoo.com' or share the receipe, please.

thank you.

cheers
yan

Sorry Aunty Lucy, I have to use your comment section to ask one of your readers a question. Hope you don’t mind.

Jing Yi, I am currently residing in Melbourne too and may I know where you bought the shortening to make the snow skin mooncake? I have been hunting for it high and low and have missed out on making any snow skin moonies this year.

Hi nonya,

I think you should have CRISCO - it is very common. This is the shortening which I used for my snow skin mooncakes. Crisco has two type - one is the white shortening and the other with butter flavour. Use the white one... Do post the address if you manage to find it in Melborne.
