Hi Shine,

When I was a little girl, my mum used to make beautiful butter cake without a machine. All she needs is me and my sister with a wooden spoon.

I will use a wooden and stir the butter and sugar vigorously while my sister will use a hand whisk to whisk the eggs and sugar and my mum will then combine both together , alternating with the sieved flour.

Give a try on this old method...have fun.

I used the box chinese red dates - sweetened. Normally a lot of household will buy these red dates for chinese new year. I will try to snap a photo of it and post.

Have a nice day.

Hi Lucy,
This cake looks so yummy. I bought 2 boxes of the red dates during CNY (exactly the same as yours) but all eaten up already.
