Good Mrng Aunty. What is used to wrap the nian gou this time? Look really crispy. How do you manage to keep them so crispy? :) Adeline

Hi Adeline,

I like to fry it with sweet potatoes and yam. I shredded it and mix it with crispy flour.

It's really crispy. I bought this flour from Giant Johor Bahru - for frying goreng pisang. Very crispy.

Hi elizabeth,

Nian Kao is my favourite. I can lots of them at one go. Sorry to make you drool but you can try making one yourself. it's very easy to steam it.

my mommy literally buys glutinous rice and blend it to get the residual to mix with brown sugar and then steam it. such hard work!! but my goodness, homemade nian gao is soooo yummy!! i think i'd get my mom to try ur crispy fried nian gao.

Thanks aunty, shredding yam and sweet potatoes is a good idea! Much tidier than mashing them haha. Adeline
