I tried baking swiss rolls before but I failed as when I tried to unrolled it, to spread jam, its cracked though I have already sprinkled sugar on parchment paper

Hope u can give m some advice thanx

Hi gigi,

I never like the roll and unroll method as it has the tendency to crack. I just bake the swiss roll, cool it and then spread with fillings or butter cream and roll it. That's all....

Hi Lucy,

I used to be able to roll my swissroll successfully. Now that I have my new oven, it doesn't have the "bake" only mode. It comes with "fan bake" mode and my swissroll cracks! Is there a trick to remedy?

Hi Justinmummy,

Don't use fan mode cos it will dry up your sponge cake.
