Hi
Wow....such a beautiful tart!! Well done...keep up the good work.
Baked some egg tarts yesterday too. However I used ready made pasrty puff off the shelf, and the egg custard u posted some time back ... ... I read the instructions 3 times on the packaging, it nvr stated need to pre-bake the pastry, so I directly pour the egg custard inside. The custard was perfectly smooth n nice, the pastry uncooked. Haha, in the end, my hubby n kids just used a spoon n eat the custard only. The egg custard is very nice, Aunty Yochana, thanks for the recipe. A lesson learnt for me, will pre-bake the pastry next time if I baked again ... ...
Hi Aunty! Looks so delish! By the way what is the difference between the normal egg tart and the Portugese one? I only know that the Portugese ones look browner and their pastry is different.
Portuguese egg tart uses puff pastry while the other one uses short crust pastry or sweet pastry. As for the egg custard, some like to add in some whipping cream to the custard.
Really like to try to make this tart. But i could not locate the puff pastry recipe in your blog. Was trying to look for the recipe under pie/tart section.
Would appreciate if you can let me know whether i am looking at the correct section.
Hi Aunty Yochana, These egg tarts looks DELICIOUS!! Can i use your egg tart custard to make this Portuguese Egg Tart? Then is ok for the custard to puff up right? Thanks!

What's the difference between the normal egg tart and portuguese egg tart?
Somehow I have a feeling is the pastry that makes the difference, am I right?
Btw I ate portuguese egg tarts quite a long time ago, it has a very thick pastry skins.

I'm about to try your egg tart recipe, to prepare myself for the actual bakings for teachers' day celebration.
Now seeing your Portuguese Tart, I'm having second thoughts about making egg tarts.
Which is easier? The normal ones or Portuguese ones?
Aunty Lucy, possible to use those readily available fresh cream for fruit tarts? Or any additional ingredients needed?
Thanks in advance,
Angeline
Angeline,
The traditional egg tarts are easier.
I don't understand what fresh cream you are referring to.

Sorry for not making myself clear.
I'm actually asking about the cream (assumed its fresh cream) used for fruit tarts.
Can I just use those fresh cream off-the-rack kind?
Thanks,
angeline
Yes Angeline, you can use those whip cream off the rack.

Hi Katrina,
No..the normal egg tart custard cannot be used for portuguese egg tart cos portuguese egg tart custard has whipping cream.
