Hi Aunty Yochana,
Your cookies look so divine...I tried mine but then they don't look uniform in shapes...however, the taste is good. Can you tell me now to get them in same round shapes please? Thank you so much for your tips. Many thanks, Michelle
Hi Michelle,
You weigh each dough to your desire and roll it round then press a little on top.

Hiee,
Just to confirm is the plain flour 320g? If just to try out, can I half all the ingredients? Do I have to use half an egg? Can I use self raising flour instead of plain flour? Thank you.
Sorry for asking so many questions... I am new to baking ;p
Hi anonymous,
if you want to half the recipe, please half everything including the eggs.
rgds
Hi Aunty,

rgds
Sorry,
my sister wanted to ask you erm wat oven(conventional/microwave/others) did you use and is there any brands u recommend?
Loves,

Hi Joan,

rgds

Lower down the temp.

Another wonderful recipe....though I find it a tad too sweet. Next try will reduce the sugar and that would be perfect. Thanks for a great crispy recipe.
Aunty Yochana,
Your recipes are so good that my 10 and 12 year old did it on their own and it tasted wonderful as well. Since this is the 2nd time round trying this recipe, I cut down the sugar and it was perfect.
Hi jeannie,
wow....your kids must be enjoying themselves like I do..

Hi Aunty Yochana,
This is going to be my first attempt at cookies. Just to confirm with u a few things before I begin my experiment:
(1) Is the "tray" that comes with my new oven the same as cookie sheet? =/ cos it looks the same to me...help!
(2) Must I use the parchment paper to bake these lovely cookies? Or can I just grease the pan by brushing it with butter/olive oil? =/ *cry* I'm really zero in this!
Sorry aunty for asking so many Qs, I hope this time around it'll be successful and not just plain edible...Thanks in advance!
Hi emily,
Better put a piece of greaseproof paper or parchment paper to prevent it from sticking to the tray.
rgds
hi emily,
what brand is your oven? is it a built-in oven or a table top oven?
rgds
Hi Aunty,
Its a table top oven (Cornell). And I use the tray that comes with the oven and line it with a layer of parchment paper for baking these cookies.
Pls advise. Thanks!
Hi Aunty Yochana
Can i know for all your cookies recipes, do we need to soften the butter and let it cool before use? or we can use the butter straight from the fridge?? What is the difference texture of the cookies? Sorry to ask so many ques...just hope to bake great cookies for my loved ones...=)
Rgds
Diana
Hi diana,
I prefer to use cold butter for my cookies but then again, it all depends on what cookies I'm making. If I need to wrap, I use soften butter.

Hi Aunty,
It's me again!+D Just want to let you know that my 2nd attempt was successful!
I lower the temperature to 160C for 15min and this time, I use a proper baking sheet lined with parchment paper. No burnt bottoms, just perfect cookies! It was all gone the next day! hahaha...
Thanks for the recipe aunty!
Hi Aunty,
It's me again!+D Just want to let you know that my 2nd attempt was successful!
Since I'm using my new Cornell tabletop oven which I think the temperature is slightly higher so I lower the temperature to 160C for 15min and this time, I use a proper baking sheet lined with parchment paper. No burnt bottoms, just perfect cookies! It was all gone the next day! hahaha...
Thanks for the recipe aunty!
Hi emily,
So you finally understand your oven, which is the first step to baking.
Thumbs up and keep up the good job.
rgds
Hi aunty yochana,
which brand of chocolate chip did u use ? which is nice ? thanks
rgds,
jessica
Hi Jessica,
I've no preference. I buy what is available.

Aunty Yochana
I tried this recipe with macadamia nuts and another time with pecans, and the kids and I simply love the crispy and yummy results.
And finally, I don't have the 'flat choc chip cookie' problem with this recipe.
Thanks for sharing this cookie recipe.
Su
Hi Aunty,
May i ask if i don't have the brown sugar, can i subsitute it with castor sugar? And how much should i use? Thanks.
Regards,
Jas
Hi jas,
Just add in 100 gm. will do.
If you don't have a sweet tooth, 80 gm. will do.
rgds
Hi Aunty,
Thanks for the fast reply, i got another question is can i use all chocolate chips and omit the chopped walnuts as my dad can't eat walnuts. How much chocolate chips should i add in total to omit the walnuts?
Regards,
Jas
Hi Jas,
you can omit the walnuts.. you can plus and minus anything you want.
rgds
Hi Aunty,
Did you fold in the flour or used the electric mixer to mix? Thanks!
Nana
HI Nana,
both methods are acceptable.
rgds
Hi Aunty,
I half-ed this recipe and store it in the fridge after mixing everything but when i 'thawed' and bake it, they became very very flat cookies and very dark brown. I have reduced the time to 8min instead but the cookies are still very flat. Could you advise what went wrong?
Rdgs,
Regina
Hi REgina
You could have overcreamed yr butter .
rgds
hey! how many it serves? pls reply asap :X
may I know how many pieces can I make with the ingredients listed above? If I use twice the amount, will it be A LOT more?
Hi Val,
so sorry...I did not count.
You do one recipe first and if it's not enough do again.

hello Aunty Yochana,

thanks
Hi Aunty Yochana,
I'm a new fan of yours.
Just wanted to tell you that my family had enjoyed this recipe. My 1 year old baby, who's not even 13 months yet, had been 'asking' and eating this cookie for the past few days now. He also prefers the lattice pineapple tart pastry that i made with your recipe, to other off-the-shelf pineapple tarts.
Just like to thank you so much for sharing your recipes. I've enjoyed marvelling at your recent creative bakes. I even recognised a recent bake for my friends' 25th wedding anniversary! what a small world!
God Bless!
Hello Aunty,
I've became ur fans since I've successfully made biskut makmur using ur simple recipe. I would like to ask can I use coarse sugar instead of brown n castor? Can u convert to me as well in 'cup' @ 'tbs' measurement instead of 'grams' coz I don't have kitchen scale.
Hi Fauziah
1 cup = 250 gm. Butter
1 cup = 130 gm. flour
1 cup = 200 gm. sugar
rgds
Hi,
Can I use dark choc chips instead of the normal choc chips?
Thanks
