May I know what is actually a fondant? I've been seeing so many of your recipes with fondant frosting but don't know what is it and seems like it's not very common to see fondant cakes outside. Is it difficult to make? Do you need to be artistic to be able to shape the designs?

Hi aimei,
Another name for fondant is sugar paste which is made of icing sugar, glucose and water. You can also buy ready-made fondant from sun lik. 1 pkt. about S$7-50.
I also used Marshmallow Fondant which is made of marshmallow, icing sugar and water.
They are not difficult to make and infact they are much easier than piping with buttercream...it's like plasticine while cream is soft and harder to handle. Once you start decorating with fondant, lots of ideas will creep into your brain. To make it nicer, there are lots of cutters which helps to do the cut-outs as decorations for your cupcakes.

This morning as I was looking at your site I could not believe my eyes. I saw the same cake with their names - Kevin & Lynette. What a small world!

Oh My god Julia,
That's really a small world isn't it. I also told Lyn about my website...in case she needs to bake for kevin. hahaha... I waited for that wedding day for so many years and I just couldn't help baking the wedding cakes.
