Aunty Yochana,

May I know where you get those "red gel" that you piped on top of your cake? Or do you make it yourself?

I miss this kind of gel that usually piped on top the butter cream of the individual cake.

Hi Aunty,

It's a blessing to your family that you are such a good baker. All the cakes/pastries/cookies/breads look awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Yochana,

I will be baking butter cake this weekend, can I just pipe red gel on top of my butter cake without any cream or icing.
Or can I put a layer of icing then pipe the red gel? will the icing melt if place cake on table after two hours? Pls advise. Thanks

Hi Marie,

Just piping straight onto the butter cake is not nice looking. It's better to give it a light coat of butter cream then decorate it with the piping gel. The butter cream can stand at least 1/2 a day in room temperature but not in a very hot room.

Hi Yochana,

Thanks, but my family don't like butter cream, can I use icing sugar to make royal icing on top of the cake. Or can I just use royal icing to pipe the "Happy Birthday"? Pls. advise

Thanks.

Hi Aunty Yochana,

If use your Butter cake recipe to bake with a 10" square pan, should I use 1 1/2 or 1 3/4 or your recipe? Thank you

Hi marie

Royal icing will dry and become hard.
