I like this rich cake provided it is will full swing original ingredients. I notice butter milk is a bit expensive here about RM25 half litre and I think some bakers usr buttermilk essence and milk instead.

Woah..how come your Butter milk cost RM25? Over here, we can get "Dairy Farmers" brand for only S$3.60. Buttermilk essence is not so nice. Buttermilk really enhance the taste of the cake.

i am from the u.s., and i love seeing what kind of goodies other countries eat. i have to say though, that your red velvet cake looks a little off. maybe ingredients are different? the coloring doesn't look the same

you can sub with milk & lemon juice curd or yoghurt.

yes you are right...the red colouring is not enough. I put a lot of red colouring but stopped it when I realised the amount is tremendous and for own consumption, I cut it down.
