Assorted Macarons

Hi Yochana,

My first attempt - I made hazelnut macarons from a recipe I found in a library cookbook. It came out fairly OK but rather flat and didn't have much feet on them. They weren't tall and plump like yours... is the batter suppose to spread after piped? mine did and a few merged together. Is it caused by overmixing or oven temp or by not drying them out before baking??? I got a little discouraged and didn't bother making the orange buttercream filling...
I can't help but feel envious of your local blog fans who get to attend your classes and taste all your goodies!!:)) Wish you a joyful and relaxed Christmas Day - Anita

Hi Aunty Yochana,
How do I find out about your classes? Also, I would like to know where to get the heart shaped cutter for the strawberry jelly hearts. Those I see from Phoon Huat & Sun Lik are too big.

Thanks & Merry Christmas :)

Aunty Yochana,

How should we store our macaroon?
We should fill them when we are ready to eat, or we can pre-fill them and store?

Hi Aunty Yochana,

Yesterday I cut up my silpat mat into half..

I use a penknife to cut, so the cut sides are clean.. After cutting it there isn't any thing leaking out, can slightly feel the glass fiber thats all, other than that, not much of prob.

BTW, thanks for giving me advices regarding the silpat mat!

Hi Carrie,

Cheers!!! I knew it works. Did it fit nicely into your oven?

Hi Aunty Yochana,

Yeah, it fits nicely! Tho the mat has become smaller, but better than unable to fit it in! I wish I've a oven like your's! The professional bakery type of oven! Hehehe!

I'll use one for baking, then maybe the other pc I'll keep it or use it to roll out pastry! Guess it will come in handy when rolling out the pineapple tart pastry! Hee!
