Fighting Fish for children who came for my class

I actually wanted to surprise all the children who accompany their mummy to my class and rewarding them for being good children. I got ready these 10 little fighting fish which comes with containers. Don't worry children, aunty yochana will keep these for you until you come one day. I will feed them for you too until they grow fat.....I hope this will cheer up the children.

Aunty Lucy,

You're the most thoughtful person. Eventhough I am thousands of miles away from S'pore and could not attend your class and neither have I met you before, I could just feel your kindness and thoughtfulness towards others.

I sure hope to meet you someday.
Thank you again.

Hi Aunty Yochana,

I view your blog from time to time and when i saw that note of yours regarding poppy seed, I was hoping you would be fine.

I am glad to see you happily blogging today as usual :-)

btw, so sweet of you to think of the kids!

While your intentions were kind, I can't agree with giving living creatures as "gifts" or rewards to children, knowing that unlike you, the kids will not necessarily know how to feed and care for the fish. They may, like the children, be small, but they are nonetheless living, sentient beings, not toys or prizes.

Hi iain,

I think each individual has their own thinking.

I got his idea when my staff & friends brought their children to my factory and they asked for the fighting fish.

I was amazed few days later when they know how to call me and asked me questions which I have never thought of. Wow...they are only about 8 to 10 years old.

I think they learn a lot from looking after the fish and they learn how to be responsible and care for something that is living. I normally love to buy puppies and dogs for my daughter when she did well in her exams because she loves animals so much and so are my neighbour's children.

To each it's own...and how you look at it.
