hi aunty, can i know what is the effect of pouring orange/ lemon/ other fruit syrup over a butter cake? Will it make the cake soggy and wet? it doesnt sound appetising though.. coz i have one recipe which calls for drenching the cake with syrup

Hi Lucy, long time I didn't leave a comment, but I still read your blog EVERYDAY, unless I have no access to the PC! Can I ask, for this cake, can I use your buttercream recipe instead of using fresh whipped cream for the filling and the cake? Reason is thinking of making it for my daughter's school party this Friday, but have to make on Thursday and afraid no space in fridge to keep the fresh cream cake. I know your buttercream recipe can last >24 hrs at room temperature, so should be OK if I don't put in the fridge.

Your advice is greatly appreciated!

HI Leleeng,

yes you can use buttercream. Becareful of the butter cos nowadays I find that the butter melts easily so you better mix with some margarine.

Hi siti,

Some cakes has more flour content and the syrup helps to keep the moist. It won't so soggy that you are unable to eat it.

Hi Angie,

I used Value Pride soft blend to cream.

At the moment, I'm still ok. no news yet.
