Queer Egg



Queer.......I knocked an egg today and found a queer egg yolk with a membrane. *scratch* *scratch* how come ar.....????

I think the yolk's starting to develop - i.e. fertilised - and about to turn into a chick! :-)

Oh mine ....from your pics, I can't see any embryo. I think the hen that laid the egg ....her egg making mechanism went a bit hay-wire LOL

Ya, it think you are right...You can see from the last pic, that there is a lump of egg white in the middle. It went the other way round.

Oh ...now I know what is Balut. I asked my maid last night and she gave me the wrong info. She said balut means any food wrapped up with a paper. Joker hor??

Hi Lucy,

You shud do a search in the internet for pics of balut. So horrifying! My maid said its a delicacy in the Philippines and supposed to be very nutritious. Balut are actually partially-formed chicks inside the shells, some even have feathers forming. My colleague tried once in Manila and she said its something she'll never try again. She could feel the chick's bones crunching inside her mouth. Eeww!

You must be lucky that interesting things have happened to 2 eggs you cracked.

I cracked an egg and it had red blood in the egg white and some red spots.

I used it! *knocks head*

Do you think eggs with red egg whites are safe to eat?

Hi Anna,

If there's a lot of red in the egg, I normally give it to my dog, *Ceasar*. If it's just a dot or two, I will use the egg shell to scoop it off.

I think you just bought fake eggs.

It's not balut type.

China has been making fake eggs and i think you just got some.

Don't eat it.
