May i know why the mango inside looks so wet? Is it because it is really ripe & after refrigerating it, its juices flow out?

Also, can i use freshly grated coconut to coat it instead of dessicated coconut?

And is mochi same as muah chee that has sugar & peanut fillings inside? Thanks!

Hi joanna,

After cutting the mangoes into cubes, there's definitely some juice incorporated inside so when I scooped with a teaspoon, the juice will be scooped too thus giving it a wet look. Don't worry about the juice cos the mochi paste does not absorb water. It taste like the muah chee skin..mmm...yes yes peanut sugar filling will be very good. I would love it better than the mangoes.

If you use freshly grated coconut for coating, it will turn sour very quickly. Remember to steam with some salt for at least 5 mins. if you want to use fresh coconut. then again, I should say that fresh coconut will taste better cos the desiccated coconut normally has an oily coconut taste.

Hi low,

I used the same mochi paste as the mango mochi. I changed the fillings.. Actually you can use any fillings as you wish.

Hi Lilian,

this mochi will never fail. It is supposed to be sticky and sticks to the hands. I used a plastic and press the mochi flat with my palms (between 2 sheets of plastic) then place some filling on top and using the plastic , stick them together and mould in a round ball and then throw into the desiccated coconut. Sorry for my explanation..seems like going round and round. So sayang...you throw away. You can easily cut the mochi into peanut filling and eat like mua chee.
