this opera cake looks so much better than the previous one on your cake's delight index. From the picture, it looks like it does not have the butter cream. Care to share this recipe please? Thanks.
Wow! They look great! You're such an accomplished baker...I only started visiting blogs the past weeks....felt like I lived in the dark ages. I was used to US forums and sites...never liked the heavy and sweet cakes here. Anyway, may I ask if you are familar with Alex Goh's books? I think many from M'asia and Singapore like his bread book but I can not find enough info on his Cake and Fruity Cake books.....I basically would like to know if it is worth buying both books or do the recipes overlap....thanks for any help, comments!
The cake is really lovely, especially when the sponge is using Pistachio nuts and another with hazelnut. It has a nice crunchy taste with all the grand marnier and Kahlua. Thumbs up for this cake.
You should get Alex Goh's Bread book and his cake books too. I've tried all and they are superb. It's worth buying it. I highly recommend his books. You won't regret it tho.. I have all his books.
Aunty you give me inspirations, everytime i open your site. As they say, i learn everyday..more i learn..the better will i know ! The opera cake is beautiful.

Cheryl,
You're very sharp.....there is no butter cream in this opera cake. I used fresh cream instead.

Hi Little Corner of Mine,
Did you click onto the "Hope" thing? I've passed it to you but don't know how to pass on.

Hi Geraldine,
It's not difficult...a little more tedious only.
Just cream layer by layer..
