HI Aunty,
What a coincidence, I'm also thinking of making Medlar Seed Fatt Kou this weekend. The recipe you used for this Fatt Kou is it the same as the one you post on your recipes side?

Dear Yochana,
I m so impressed how u can always get your Fatt Kou to 'BLOOM' so well !
Has the size of steamer pot anything to do with it ? Or is the way to beat the batter or the flame ?
Thanks
Chih

Hi chih,

I really don't understand too...for your info, I used the biggest steamer I have at home. I guess it could the steam that helps to split the fatt kou.

i tried making gula melaka fa gao yterday but it din bloom.

i am assuming the following causes but wonder which ?

a. me using small bowl instead of tea cups so the 'heat' doesnt penetrate thru for the kuih to 'fa'?

b. the ingredients mixing process ?

c. me using mini electric steamer instead of the conventional bamboo or stainless steel steamer over high fire ?

d. need more practice for sure.

Hi aunty yochana , I'm amazed and intrigued at your skills in baking. Do you know how to make jelly shaped like a water melon I think it uses cornflour in the process. Please share with us TY.
