Musso Ice Cream Machine

This is a 1.5 litres Musso Ice-Cream Machine - Stella (Pola) - Model 5030


Started at this stage:

10 mins later:

20 mins later:

25 mins. later

After 30 mins, it's stiff but not very stiff (can beat further to 60 mins.) but because I couldn't wait to eat it, so here it is:

    I also took some time to think about it before buying. I was telling karlsfoodie that I'm going to buy but alas....cannot tahan...so buy lah.

    You can buy the smaller version which has a capacity of 750 ml. while mine is 1.5 litres.

    It's really good and I'm totally amazed with the machine. It does a really good job. Italians has very good technology.

    Am looking for a good oven, can you recommend? I know Baby Belling is good but they don;t come with glass door so can't see what's baking inside.

    Same goes for mixer. Pls let me know your advice between Kenwood and KitchenAid.

    I prefer to use Ariston oven. Price is not too high nor too low compared to Miele. I like Miele too but it's too costly.

    As for mixer, I prefer to use Kitchen Aid. It's more practical and don't need a huge amount to make a cake. 3 decades ago, we don't have kitchen aid and we used Kenwood, and we have to make cakes as big as a 12" cake. Now with Kitchen Aid, we can size it down to 8" or even smaller. Kitchen Aid is more silent while Kenwood is so loud and noisy that even your neighbours will know that you're baking a cake. These are the points you should consider but Kenwood is very durable and strong. It can last and it can beat more than 10 eggs while kitchen aid can only go a maximum of 8 eggs.

    Just heard the shocking news that you would no longer be posting recipes in your blog any more. I just came back from a rather long and labourious business trip and first thing I did with my computer is to hook up to your blog (really missed it).

    Guess by now you are aware that you have many supporters and "students". Please do not let a few spikeful, jealous and unhappy humans destroy what you have so graciously shares and created.

    I would dearly wish to be included in your mailing list if you are considering posting the recipes. I have tried a number of your recipes and they have turned out great - my boys are always asking me to baking "Aunty Yochana's bakes" - anything is nice, they said!!

    Also, just looking at the pictures and recipes (imagining in my mind how it is supposed to be baked - really it is what I do) is enough "de-stressing" for me. As such I would truly hope to be in your mailing list. However I still believe that it would benefit many more people if you just post the recipes in your blog, like you used to.

    By the way, I am very interested to buy an ice cream maker. I am looking at a few options and as you have purchased one (which seems to have driven that spikeful person into a fanzy), I would like to ask a few pointers on yours (if it is okay).

    1) is the machine virtually ready to go or does it require lengthly pre-freezing ?

    2) how much storage space does it require?

    3) is the motor noisy?

    4) is it possible to make successive batches without waiting for the motor to "cool"

    5) how easy is it to assemble and take apart for cleaning?

    6) is there any additional gadgets that one needs to buy?

    7) in your experience so far, is there any negative points to this machine ?

    Sorry I have so many questions but I have nobody to consult and since you have one and in my mind is a guru when it comes to baking (plus ice-cream making) - I hope you would not mind spending a bit of your time answering my mail.

    Give a kiss to your boys for eating anything that you bake. That's the best part of baking...

    I've transferred your mail to this side so that many who are interested in buying an ice-cream machine can consider carefully.

    I do have a Philips ice cream maker that fails me all the time. Cheap but useless. The bowl need to freeze for at least 24 hours and sometimes it sits in the freezer for days when I'm too busy to make.

    For musso ice cream machine...

    (1) No need to freeze the bowl for at least 24 hours.

    (2) Mine has a capacity of 1.5litres and it's about :

    Height - 12"
    Depth - 14"
    Length - 20"

    You can opt for a capacity of 750 gm. which is smaller in size.

    (3) When the blade turns, it has some sound but soft muttering sound.

    (4) Yes you can make continous ice-cream and the motor can stand it. BTW, I always make one batch only so never try the next batch but the salesman said "No problem" cos some shop used the same machine as mine and they churn up lots of ice-cream everyday.

    (5) Cleaning is very easy. Pull out the blade and the top screw and wash it under running tap, of course use soap too. Then the bowl part which is not removable, can soak with some warm water to wash away oil, smell and remnants. Then wash with soap inside and wipe it with clean water. All stainless steel..so no problem at all.

    (6) No additional gadgets though.

    (7) No negative at the moment, cos I'm fairly new to the machine too. So far so good...but I'm happy with machine. It's very stable and strong and can churn until it turns to ice-cream and can eat on the spot. Good for children's party...I'm sure they'll love it.

    Good to invest in a good set since your children are still young and they eat lots of ice-cream. Homemade ice-cream are normally more tasty.
