Green Tea Red Bean Buns

This will be my last recipe which I will post in my blog. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Those who wants my recipes will have to email me. Anonymous and Nasty people will not be entertained. I will continue to post my daily bakes though and answer questions pertaining to bakes only.

It's a year since I started blogging and 6 months ago I started my google ads and I was totally amazed when Googles sent me a cheque. Wow...though it's a small sum but I'm really happy about it.

I cannot tolerate nasty comments anymore and I just wonder why people hated me so much when I literally helped in answering questions and giving out free recipes? I would like to thank this anonymous person who actually woke me up. This person said I'm arrogant and again the subject of being rich pops up again..I wonder if it's a sin. Anyway, she also mentioned that: typical stupid rich people like you ought to just disappear from this earth.

Please do not come to my blog if you hate me....Thank you!!

rgds. aunty Yochana

Hi Aunty,
The red bean look yummy. U make them, too? Where can I get them? Thanks.

Hi,
I've tried baking bread (dough) a no. of times using the breadmachine. However, it always come out slightly brownish(tried different brand of bread flour). All your bread looks white. Please share if there are any secret skill? or any specific brand of bread flour use? Thanks.

Aunty Yochana said...

Hi anonymous,

I can't understand why your bread turns brownish after baking. Are you using wet yeast? Bicarbonate of soda also makes the bread turn brown and I hope you didn't use this.

Hi anonymous,

Yes, I made these buns myself.

Hi tjiana,

what a coincidence. Just wrap the dough with red bean paste and seal it tightly. Roll it flat on the table, then use a knife to cut 5 slits at the side but don't cut through to the centre. The centre must not be cut through.

Hi Aunty, sad to see that you are one of the victims to those nasty remarks.

Just want to say thank you for all your advices as my bakes now no longer look or taste like rocks ( that's whay my hubby used to say so), though more practise are needed.

Aunty, if those mail contents cause you undue stress/hurt, you can report to cops. I'm not sure how this type of situation is handled in SG though.

From a psychological viewpoint , this is a usual and normal remark/behaviour from one with some mental concerns. He/She could be/in need of medical attention. Aunty, don't be too bothered by them.

I will continue drop by your site and hopefully one of these days, my bakes will taste or looks like at least 85% of yours. :)

2. What is 7" square tray ? Isit a tin or tray ?

3. What are disgestive biscuit n where can I buy them from ?

4. Whats a neutral mousse powder ?

5. What cake rings are used for chilled blueberry cheese gateau ?

6. Lastly, usualy the baking tray don't indicate 10x14 size, instead it states xx X xx X xx [xx = numbers]. As such hw wld i know the size is 10 x 14 or 9 x 14 ?

Paiseh n very sorry for asking silly questions ..

Aunty Yochana said...

Hi dogbaby_25,

(1) Yes there is a difference between a springform tin and a normal tin. For springform is a loose bottom pan which helps you to remove the cake easily...especially cheesecake.

(2) 7" sq. is a square tin.

(3) Digestive biscuits - McVities Biscuits. Buy from any supermarket.

(4) Neutral mousse powder can buy from Phoon Huat. It's to set your mousse.

(5) For chilled blueberry cheesecake, use a 9" round cake ring.

(6) For sizes, use a ruler to measure the trays.

Thank you for this and all the other wonderful recipes you've posted in the past. I can't imagine why people have to be so mean and nasty. I always start the day off with a cup of coffee and Auntie Yochana cake pictures. Even hubby sits with me on weekends and we salivate over your bakings. He would always say "why can't you do that"? My excuse would always be "we don't carry that ingredient in the US honey" lol.

Please don't bother with those nasty people for they have no life and are probably just jelous. I'm sadden by your decision not to post anymore recipes but I understand your reasonings. I will still visit your site several times a day.

Aunty Yochana said...

Dear Aunty,

I actually wanted to post a comment but I'm quite 'cheong hei' sometimes so thought I'd just drop you a mail!

First of all, thank you SO MUCH for sharing the joy of baking online! I visit your blog everyday without fail to see what baking adventures you've embarked upon for the day. I know you've probably heard that many many times but that doesn't make it any less true for me. Sometimes when there are no new posts I keep going back every hour or so and you've never let me down.. I really think I would get withdrawal symptoms if I don't see new posts each day lor.. Hehehe..

That said, I just wanted to console you on the nasty remarks you've been getting.

Honestly, I don't think you should take their comments personally. Why? Because...

Assuming that your 80 000 hits a month are unique, that means you get 2667 people visiting your blog everyday. If you get 13 people who leave hate messages for you everyday, that's only 0.5% of your readership. Don't forget about the 99.5% who still love you!
When I was working as a cashier in McDonalds part time I learned that the good customers will come and go and I won't give them much thought but 1 customer making a big hoo-ha can make me hate serving customers and wonder why I have to work so hard for so little money. But actually its just the odd case every now and then.

Oh, and I don't know how being rich is a bad thing but I'm glad you are. Many rich people keep their money to themselves and that's okay because its their money, their right, they don't have any obligation to do charity. But you use up a lot of your money in baking supplies, going to classes, your time in blogging and giving free advice and then you give away your bakes for free some more. Most people would have set up a business to gather profits by now (actually aunty, i think you could earn a lot if you gave lessons and sold your bakes lor). If you didn't have money, you wouldn't be able to do all this.

Also, your entries are very inspiring. When I introduced my mum to your blog, she was like a kid let loose in a candy store! She was so amazed by everything... and that's exactly how I felt when I first chanced upon your blog. Now she even wants to bring me to Singapore to see see Pantry Magic!!

I guess what i'm trying to say is, don't get discouraged by those malicious remarks. All this while you've been the 'bigger person' by 'entertaining' the detractors and I really respect you for that.

I always see your recipes and say to myself 'must try! must try!' but in the end never try (hehehe..) but in the future if want to try also no recipe. Nevertheless, thank you so much for graciously posting recipes before this!

Lastly, I hope you don't let anyone dim your passion for baking! =)

Dear Readers and Friends,

I have finally arrived at the decision to quit blogging altogether, for reasons best known to myself and a few of my cyber friends.

I will, however, continue with my hobby to try new recipes for my three dear ones at home, post food photos in my photo album and MAYBE the food forums (with links to the sources only) - a hobby which will take up much less of my time, effort and most important of all - zero responsiblity.

The entries for this blog will be permanent for as long as blogspot doesn't forfeit my account.

Thanks for your support on this blog.

I really appreciate your effort to share your wonderful bakings with everyone and also your generous spirit in sharing recipes and baking tips. Please do continue to share your bakings as I am sure your blog is an inspiration to all who are interested in baking. And for those people with nasty comments, just brush them aside. Your time would be better spent trying out new recipes :)

Hi Lucy

You have so many fans and supporters in us - dont let the remarks of such a deranged and mentally retarded and ungrateful person affect you.

All of us have learnt so much from you through your blog and you are ever so generous with your tips, advices and recipes - including the daily feast for our eyes....LOL!
We can never thank you enough...

Hi Aunty Yochana,

I'm disgusted to see the words that that arrogant threw at you. It is really a shame that such nasty people exist. It's been some while that I visit your blog and I still do it everyday to admire your daily bakes. I have tried most of your mooncakes recipes and a chiffon cake that I have managed to do them successfully. Many thanks for your tips (that you always gave by replying me promptly at each question) and recipes, and please don't be discouraged. Your talent inspired and encouraged me to give a try to most of the recipes. The very first time I touched a cake mould and batter, the pasty was ruined. If it wasn't for your generous advices, I would have never been motivated enough to try myself again. I have a lot of respect for you and learnt so much, I just feel sorry to hear that somebody who can't even assume himself/herself keep stabbing you with harsh comments.

Hope that won't have diminished your love of baking.

rgards and take care,
Keysia

It's a blessing to be able to bake beautifully. It is big heart which makes sharing unreservedly that makes you so special.

Nasty comments? It's part and parcel of life and growing up I guess. Nothing is perfect in this world, we just live by our own conscience. The truth will come to light and you will prevail!!

Hi Lucy,
Dont let these sore losers deter you from doing what you love and do best. We all love your cooking and enjoy it very much,..I have nothing but awe and admiration for your work and thank you for your generosity in sharing them with us. Thank you again. :)
The ones who write these poison pen comments are nothing in this world, they have nothing ( no life , no friends , no happiness) but misery and all they have or think they have is some few minutes of power by being nasty to someone under anonymity of the internet.
I HOPE THE COWARDLY LOSER READS THIS!!!!
Do continue to spread your sunshine Lucy.
P.S.Would have been in earlier if some idiot hadnt wiped off my whole computer.

Dear Aunty,
I've been busy working that I haven't visited for so long until today, and I was really shocked and saddened by this incident. I know a lot of people have given you much support, and I'll probably sound like I'm merely reiterating what others have said already, but you have been really inspiring and I respect your decision. Sometimes when dealing with nasty people, enough is enough. There is much more I'll like to say but I don't really know how to put it in words. I hope you'll continue to obtain much joy from your baking as I will browsing your blog.
Sincerely, Jam

Hi Lucy
You're much bigger than Ben Hur! You know in your heart that you're a talented, generous & loving human being & no one can take away from you. The world wld be a better place w/out those ignorant, spiteful & cowardless anonymous b****** (not even fit to share the air we breathe). Ignore them & they're not worth mentioning further.

Just wanted to say thank you for your generosity in keeping this blog going & not closing it down (like Tazz). There's not a lot of women like you around in this world who believes in sharing & not expecting anything in return.

However I do envisage that your email a/c will be working o/time to cope with recipe requests (as I'll be one of them too).

God bless (He knows) & keep baking.

Rgds.
Ling (from Syd)

PS Tried the cheesecake recipe & it was a hit with the family.

I've only recently come upon your site and everything looks amazing. It's a pity that there are people who do not appreciate it as much as the rest of us. I've been looking for a recipe for a a durian, pandan, or taro cake for my mom's birthday and came across your nine layer durian cake. It looks fantastic. I was wondering if you would be willing to email me the recipe.
