Buttery Orange Cake

Hi Aunty,

The cakes that I bake will always have a dome on the top and even cracks at times. But I notice that your cakes always have a very nice flat top. May i know if there's any technique to achieving that?

Hi Regina,

I don't have any secret to it. I just level it and then bake.

I was taught last time that if you don't want a dome on top, after pouring in the batter, push more batter to the side leaving a slight depression in the centre and the cake will come out flat. Give a try and see whether it works.

Hi Lucy,

If I use the normal butter cake recipe, can I just add orange juice and zest to achieve this buttery orange cake?

Thanks for your advice.

Hi anonymous,

I overturned the cake onto the cooling rack and thus created the lines.

Hi aunty

oh! did you overturn it while cooling? will the timing matter, must you leave it in the pan while cooling? Thank you so much! I love your blog, visit it almost everyday (:

Hi anonymous,

Normally after baking a cake, I will leave it inside the tin for about 8 mins. then I overturn over a cooling rack, take off the cake pan and leave it just as it is till completely cooled.

Hi Yochana,

Your cheese chiffon really look awesome! I tried to bake some chiffon cake but it's always crack. Do you have any idea why, can you give me some advise? My toddlers really loves chiffon, especially the baby chiffon cake(chocolate ans cheese) from Prima Deli! Thank you very much!

Best regards,
Serene
