Yoke, this is the cake which you asked me to test out... Funny though the cake states coffee, it does not contain any coffee at all.
Ingredients:
250 gm. Butter
200 gm. sugar
1/2 tsp. vanilla essence
3 eggs
250 gm. self-raising flour
80 gm. ground black sesame seeds (toast and then blend)
8 Tbsp. fresh milk
Method:
(1) Cream butter, sugar and vanilla essence till light and creamy.
(2) Add in eggs one at a time making it's properly combined before the next addition.
(3) Add in self-raising flour and ground black sesame seeds alternately with fresh milk. Mix till just combined and pour into an 9" fluted tube cake tin or a normal 8" round cake tin.
(4) Bake at 175C for about 45 to 60 mins. or till cooked.
(5) Cool on wire rack before slicing.

I was just wondering...... how this cake taste like.

kwa kwa,
I love black sesame seed so the taste is wonderful...cake texture slightly crumbly (not so bad though) but can be improved. Yoke gave me the recipe cos she said it's very dry and asked me to test it out. I did a lot of changes though otherwise it will be as what yoke said....very hard and dry.

Hi aunty,
This recipe that you posted, is it the original dry version or your improved version?
I would like to try it out, but I'm thinking of taking a short-cut, i.e. using those bottled sesame powder. heehee.
Regards,
Regina
Hi Regina,
this is an improved version. yes yes, your bottled sesame powder will be convenient and good. Happy Baking.

Hi Kwa kwa,
no coffee...like Baking Fiend said, it's a cake that goes with a cup of coffee..hence the name coffee cake. Happy Baking.
