Aunty Lucy, your sandwich press looks cool!! very nice roti john
yeah...I love this sandwich press very much. I have been eyeing on it 4 yrs ago. I always ask my naughty daughter to buy for me but she never. Nonetheless my good friend Doris finally bought for me from Perth and brought it back.
It's very good for making burgers and sandwiches. I tried with the roti john today and the bread is so crispy and fragrant cos I use SCS butter to cook it. The height on top is adjustable.
wow!! aunty lucy...do you mind one day taking a picture of all your kitchen barang and post them? i am dying to see all of your equipment and be comforted to know that i am not the only one crazy with kitchen toys!! with the things i have, my hb thinks i can open a store!! ahahaha....
hmmm..i am living in perth...now u are tempting me to buy one of this sandwich press...can you please share this roti john recipe? my hb misses this very much...thank you!!
You should buy this sandwich press afterall it's so cheap in Perth. It's about A$40+ only. You can use it for foccacia, turkish bread and many others.
For roti john, I agak agak only. Beat an egg with salt and pepper. Add in some mince meat (beef or pork) to your preference. Dice 1/2 large onion. Add mix in. spoon the mixture on top of your buns.
Place some butter on the sandwich press or non stick pan, place your buns or bread on top and let it toast. Turn upside down to cook the egg and meat till golden brown. Good for morning breakfast.
I'm searching for Hokkien Wa Kueh and saw your blog, I've heard of wa kueh before but never have a chance to see or taste it, as I can't find it anywhere in S'pore now. Please tell me where can I find or buy it to try?

yes sophia,
no need to use so much oil. It doesn't stick at all.
