Hiya Yochana,

just wondering if u have plans to do nian kao? hmn i bought nian kao but i dont know how to fry it etc. do u have any recipe to share? when do we normally eat nian kao? any days in Lunar New Year? Thanks!

Jen,

Just mix 100 gm. plain flour with 50 gm .rice flour (2:1), add some salt , 1 egg and 200 gm. water. You can omit the egg and add more water.

Sandwich the nian kao between a piece of sweet potato and 1 piece of yam and then deep-fry or pan-fry.

You can also steam the nian kao with some coconut (add some salt)..like ondeh ondeh.

the cockles needs special mould and nowadays they don't sell those moulds anymore.
