Buttermilk Biscuits

  1. Hi Aunty,

Are these scones? I like the way it breaks at the side, how did you mould them? Make the dough into a ball and flatten them? or flatten them then cut out the circle shape?

    thanks!

  2. Hi ning's mummy,

Yes these are scones and I also like it. I think the breaks at the side is caused by the buttermilk and bicarbonate of soda's reaction. I flatten the whole dough onto a floured table top then use a round ring to cut out. You can also make into a round ball and flatten them.

  3. On Ning's mummy,

I forgot to mention that if you use a round cutter to cut it out, it cracks at the side and if you mould into a round ball and flatten it with your palm, then it will crack on top. So you choose which cracks you prefer. Happy Baking.

  5. Hi Aunty,
Wow more scones for me, simply one of my favorite breakfast must have :). My email is: maehoo99@yahoo.com

May I have the recipe too? One question, aunty. I can DIY buttermilk by mixing milk and lemon juice, right? For example, for 1 cup milk, how much lemon juice should I add? Thanks for time and patience.

  6. Hi May:

If you can't find Buttermilk, this is the DIY recipe:

    2/3 cup Plain yoghurt
    1/3 cup milk

Mix them together and let it sit for at least 20 mins.
