Hi Aunty Yochana,

Your bread look soft and well baked. Kindly advise if there is any way to substitute buttermilk.

Thank you
Fiona

Hi fiona,

it depends on what you're making. for muffins you can sub with yogurt and for bread, just use fresh milk will do.

Hi Aunty Lucy,

If you don't mind, can I kindly ask for some advice from you on breadmaking as i recently just started trying it out. Is there any difference in using warm and cold water for the dough and in using instant yeast and dry yeast? I noticed some recipes advocate warm water while some use cold water? Any difference too between instant yeast and dry yeast? Thank you for your time. Warmest regards, Chris

Hi Chris,

Normally cold countries likes to warm up the liquid to speed up the fermentation time but our country is so hot, tap water will do.

Instant is easy to keep and easy to use whereas wet yeast has expiry date and harder to keep. I would advise using instant yeast rather than wet yeast unless your wet yeast is fresh. Sometimes it doesn't work at all if the yeast dies off.

Thanks so much for your prompt reply. Appreciate it. I must say your tireless effort in updating your wonderful baking blog with new recipes is real dedication so much so that so it really got me into the interest of baking last Sept. I could never understand how much you could bake in a day until I started; it was so addictive and satisfying even though I failed at times. And of course your help in baking tips certainly boosted my confidence to carry on trying out your posted recipes. Sincere thanks from the bottom of my heart. Chris
