my jelly just refuse to gel. i used gelatin powder from baking king. first i added 5g (1 tsp) of gelatin, then increased to 10g (2 tsp). it is still refusing to gel.

hi aunty lucy,

it is true to see our hard work paid off when people gobble up all of our food. but since baking puts in so much butter and unhealthy calories, i somehow feel guilty feeding them to my family. yet i am torn between my love for baking and health reasons.

i would really love to have this recipe because my sister would like to bake this for her dance instructor wedding anniversary. the couple love anything with chocolate in it. it will be different from buying direct from a bakery shop. can you please share? please? thank you...

Wow..your sister is so kind to her DI. I got this recipe from the book "Chocolate Desserts by Pierre Herme". I may have to email you the recipe instead cos I don't want to infringe into the copyright issue. Leave your email address into my email.

Hi Aunty Lucy. I was wondering if you used the canned cherries in heavy syrup that they sell in the supermarkets over here in this cake. I've been searching for the bottled sour cherries specified in the PH book but can't find them over here leh. :( I've only seen them in the supermarkets in Germany!

Aunty Yochana said...

Hi Karen,

I used "Dark Sweet Pitted cherries" - S & W brand. I prefer this cos it's not so sour. I've tried using the sour cherries before (many decades ago when Bakery mart was selling them) and I don't like it. Too sour for me..... Do you know the brand of the sour cherries from Germany? I can get someone to bring it over for me.

Hi Aunty Lucy, I think there may be many different brands, but most supermarkets in Germany should carry some. They are called "sauerkirschen" and are sold in glass bottles.

Hi Karen,

Thanks for your info. I will try to get some.

Many thanks

Hi anonymous.

I'm unable to type this recipe because it's too long to type it out. Very tedious. You can try borrowing the book from the library. I heard some has managed to borrow the book.
