Top Dog Cake

This dog was sculpted...this is how it looks like before covering with fondant::

Wow Lucy, nice doggy you have there. Did you sculpt the cake or used a doggy shaped pan?

Wow...Lucy....I'm curious....did the dog shape come in a mould or did you actually hand craft it using cake and fondant? It is beautifully done :-)

HI Yochana, for the traditional sponge cake you posted some time ago, what is the difference with the simple sponge cake recipe you have posted too?

For the traditional one, will 40ml of oil be too little? Won't the cake be abit dry?

Hi Aunty Yochana,

I tried the traditional sponge cake recipe. But my cake turn out very dry and coarse. Is it because the oil added was too little? I actually added 50ml.

If I used the other normal sponge cake recipe, is the recipe enough to bake a 9 inch cake?

Hi Jacelyn,

If you sponge cake comes out dry, brush with some sugar syrup or water before creaming it or before pouring in the mousse filling. The cake will turn moist with the water or sugar syrup.
